Designer: sandra sandorinspiration: in a new york loft, the designer blends her hungarian heritage with american easy chic. based around twenty silhouettes with particular attention to the materials. collection: lots of leather, vegan only, for crocodile effect white dungarees, dresses with fastenings on the front, just like the black jacket paired with a mini-skirt. loose, belted trousers are worn with tops in either satin or with huge polka dots or even an effective ‘tapestry’ version. to note: the belted bucket bag, the ‘slipper’ mules, the big checked coat and the beautiful shade of red notably used for the leather pieces. interview: the brand goes back quite a bit because i started in 2006, but up until around 2012, it was only a local hungarian business, operating from budapest and i think since 2012 that’s when we got a partner and that’s when we started to grow. i studied in london and then i went back to budapest to set up nanushka there and basically it’s a very big milestone for us this presentation it’s our first ever presentation in new york fashion week. for me it’s not important to show my origins through my clothes but i think it goes the opposite way but i think this clashing of cultures has really affected my style and the way i feel myself in the world, and also my aesthetic. in this collection, there are a lot of different cultures present because there is like the nineties berlin, the post-communist vibe, like this vegan leather and the colour, also a lot of denim and then the other is western, wild western references and also some far eastern references with the satins and the rose jacquard, like silk jacquard. we’re all vegan and i think it’s very hard to do that and to remain sustainable but actually we are taking steps towards it and i think i can see ourselves, in a few years becoming a totally sustainable brand. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
