Best of London - Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2015

After a multitude of propositions for the ladies of new york, london fashion week is all about the leading designers and new emerging talent. all done with a breath of fresh air and new energy which rolls out each season, essential to the fashion world.for summer 2015, the numerous collections seem to exude a new romance, as if the designers had wanted to re-live their heroines from the great english novels, mixing softness, fragility and transparency through tutus and dresses created in tulle and organza. these new ultra feminine pieces are part of a story, and for london, it is essential to see the details of the outfits to understand the very essence of a collection. like the origin of planet earth represented by the incredible and complex embroidery at mary kaytrantzou. luckily the english designer always dares to surprise, and each piece is worked right up until the eccentric accessories. like the xxl wide-brimmed leather hats at j.w. anderson that were the talked about pieces.as well as the new rock and beauty look for tom ford : crimped hair and smokey eyes. the woman will be sexier than ever for 2015. surprises are essential during the fashion weeks, we want to see, to be surprised, to feel and to live an experience; this is the case for sophia webster, the shoe designer very in vogue who invited us into a tunnel under a metro station, usually the scene of graffiti artists. it is sure that the five senses are used. it was the same at thomas tait, who chose a disused space with colourful arty walls. at burberry, the emotion is always reaches another level with the music, this time with the voice of james bay.freshness is expressed also by the presence of the london it-girls, that means: cool, beautiful and striking who create stampedes to the entrance of the shows, and even they take the example of the successful models and stars: kate moss and cara delevigne, reunited on the front row for burberry.finally to note the english charm still remains, demonstrated by paul smith, alasdhair willis and christopher bailey, big names who keep a certain humbleness, closeness and passion that resonates out of their creations. interviews:christopher bailey: throughout the whole show it was about these contradictions, of something very strong, with something very fragile.mary kaytrantzou: embroidery is something that is part of my previous show as well, so it’s a continuation of that, but now it was more fun and it was more textured, it was less about an application of a motif and more about different textures, and trims, and something to connect different techniques together. thomas tait: george was a big inspiration for me, george rousse the artist, and it was nice to be able to work with something like a visual and try to recreate something in garment form which is the first time i’ve done that. free music / bandit & nikit
