Christian Pellizzari - Men Spring/Summer 2015 Collection in Milan (with interview)

access_time 00:02:10

A debut collection from this young 33-year-old italian who, after having worked for vionnet in paris, presents his work to both the italian and international press at the theatre of giorgio armani, a fashion figure who always shows his support for new, often unrepresented talent, in a city dominated by the major italian fashion houses. for the show, the designer reworks classics but in a very personal way, adding a cheerful coolness and notes of the exotic. walking barefoot on a turf runway, boys and girls parade in suits embroidered with little embossed bows or pink jacquard flowers. tailoring is present across all the essentials of the masculine wardrobe – jeans, white shirts, jackets, straight-line pants but with an extra fresh twist and splashes of colour! an array of materials – silk, jacquard, cotton, natural and technical fibres – appear on a light-reflecting suit, embroidery and accessories, which all animate this extremely well-crafted collection, mixing a couture mood with sportswear. an american gigolo in italy!interview:christian pellizzari:i always rework and research the classics of the male wardrobe. and so i began a journey within my mind. i thought of giorgio armani, as it was he who invited me here, but also because i always have so much admiration for the consistency of his work over the years and for the things that he successfully created and his style, which is an underlying trait. after this, i started watching various films and there is one big film that has elegance, italianness and this ‘playboy’ aspect, which is ‘american gigolo’ and so i created a very summery reinterpretation of ‘american gigolo’, with sportswear pieces and a mix of classics.for me, a man must be contained, in the sense that when you think of a masculine collection, he should be surrounded and i always like this overflowing aspect. so i take a jacquard, even with a slightly feminine print, i find it in silk in the archives, i rework it in cotton and i turn it into polyester to give it a more technical edge and i put it on a jacket that has a classic cut, but that is always revisited in some way. that is why materials are so important for men, as they really make all the difference.music from the show
