The ubiquitous athleisure trend is expected to be central to the growth of the global intimate apparel market over the next five years with sports bras becoming a leader among versatile and fashionable innerwear.
Hanes saw a 13% lift in net sales in the first quarter, led by acquisitions in 2016 and online sales. The North Carolina-based firm also launched a Project Booster initiative to generate $300 million in net cash by 2020.
Acquisitions of Pacific Brands of Australia, Champion Europe and Champion Japan contributed to the company's record performance. Hanes expects the next fiscal year to deliver another strong performance.
