Indian authorities are working to proceed against accused jeweller Nirav Modi’s brother, Belgian citizen Nehal Modi, in the Punjab National Bank fraud case and plan to send evidence against him to Belgium.
As Mehul Choksi tries to cancel the notice issued against him by Interpol, the Central Bureau of Investigation has contacted Interpol for information on the “human rights violations” of which Choksi has accused it.
A UK court issued an arrest warrant for Nirav Modi and the fugitive jewellery tycoon is expected to be arrested soon. A Central Bureau of Investigation team will fly to the UK within a week to attend the court hearing.
On March 10, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera claimed that fugitive jewellery tycoon Mehul Choksi has applied to register a business in the UK and asked what government efforts are bring made to extradite him.
