Concerning talks surrounding the acquisition, Sujayath Ali, CEO, said that, “the deal should be completed by the next quarter”, although no further details have been given at this point. If the negotiations prove successful then the acquisition will follow Voonik’s acquisition of Dekkoh, a styling app, last September.

These negotiations have in part come about as part of the current growth that Voonik is experiencing. According to the company, the Voonik app has more than 20 million registered users and the app has been downloaded 17 million times. There are now 22,000 sellers registered on the app with approximately one and a half million products available. Moreover, the app recently launched Voonik Primo, a loyalty programme offering free shipping, and this now accounts for 25 percent of its sales.

The website stocks both traditional Indian wear from brands including Gardenia, Vipul, Zohraa, and Soch and western styles from brands including Belle Fille, Texco, Purys, and Rare. Jewellery, sleepwear, lingerie, beauty products, bags, and accessories also feature as categories on the site.

Voonik Technologies Pvt Ltd is an online marketplace specialising in women’s fashion and was founded in 2013 by Navaneetha Krishnan and Sujayath Ali who is the acting CEO. Voonik includes subsidiaries such as Mr Voonik, the only male specific online shopping platform.
