VF Corporation has promoted Arne Arens to the role of Global Brand President role at The North Face.

Arne Arens - The North Face

Arens said in an official statement that in his new role as Global Brand President, he will now combine his marketing background with the brand's "new strategic focus and operational rigor" to promote further global growth.

Scott Baxter, Vice President, VF Corp and Group President, Outdoor and Action Sports Americas will continue to manage Arens in his new role. Baxter said of the appointment, "Arne’s passion for and deep understanding of the outdoor marketplace, coupled with his management expertise and operational agility, make him ideally suited to unlock new opportunities and accelerate growth for The North Face around the world."

Arens previously was appointed VP and GM of the Americas for The North Face in March. His role took a strategic focus through sales, merchandising and the brand's direct to consumer business. As VF Corp looks to continue to expand its global business, putting Arens in the Global Brand President role is a clear strategic maneuver to drive more positive numbers in the modern disjointed retail landscape.

The North Face was VF Corp's top performing brand for Q1 of 2017, reporting 8% growth. The Americas region that Arens was a part of leading was the best performing region for the company on the whole, outpacing EMEA, Asia and the US, specifically.

Arens joined The North Face 7 years ago in 2010. He began by leading the brand in the EMEA region. Prior to joining VF Corp, Arens spent 8 years with Nike in EMEA.

Arens' promotion is effective immediately.
