Urban Outfitters first quarter revenue beats Wall Street

May 6 (Reuters) - Urban Outfitters Inc (URBN.O) posted better-than-expected first-quarter revenue, helped by strong performance at its direct-to-consumers segment.

The operator of the Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People chains, which also sells clothes wholesale to other retailers, said revenue for the quarter rose 25 percent to $480 million.
Analysts on average had expected revenue of $465.8 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Same-store sales for the quarter rose 11 percent.
Comparable retail segment sales, which includes direct-to-consumer channel, rose 16 percent, the company said in a statement.
