Under Armour and Misty Copeland launch signature collection
After four years as a signed athlete with Under Armour, principal ballerina Misty Copeland has launched the Misty Copeland Signature Collection, an apparel line she co-designed with Under Armour.
"I wanted a line where we could feel fierce in the gym, and at the same time, feel confident wearing the same look out to dinner, running errands or living our everyday lives," said Copeland in a release.
Her namesake collection features performance and athleisure items including leggings and tanks, as well as sportswear items such as trench coats and a leather bomber jacket. It also includes a dress with a detachable body suit and a matching lace crop top and leggings set.
Copeland says "If I could sum this collection up in three words, it would be fun, flirty and fierce."
Much like her non-traditional ballet physique which is strong yet feminine, the materials in her collection include performance lace and structured pieces that highlight curves. The collection also uses UA's proprietary fabrics which offer breathability and wicking.
Copeland created hand drawn sketches for the collection, while conversations with the brand helped to establish the themes of elegance and femininity juxtaposed with UA's message of female strength and empowerment that inform the collaboration.
Copeland added, "As someone that appreciates style and fashion as much as I do, it has been a dream come true to be so intimately involved in the design process. I wanted to showcase the versatility of my own personal style."
The collection ranges in price point from $60 to $550. It is now available on UA's website, at Under Armour retail stores and at select Macy's locations.
