The fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani is collaborating with Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS) on a project that will be a first for both businesses.
AIS reported the collaboration in an official statement that read: “A fusion of contemporary and local architecture, AIS Villa is being built in the village of Nachinola in Goa. The villa will be developed by Ahilia Homes, a boutique interior and architectural team led by the Tarun Tahiliani design house with support from AIS Glasxperts, the architectural division of AIS that specialises in applied glass.”
Tahiliani posted on his social media about his aims for the collaboration and said: “The brand Tarun Tahiliani, since its inception has set out to create the ultimate “India Modern”. We strive to be a brand with a view in the present moment, but, ultimately much steeped in the Indian traditions of draped form and the techniques that millions of Indian craftspeople imbibe with love.” As Tahiliani mixes traditional and modern elements in his clothing, so too shall he in his first architectural project.
Tarun Tahiliani launched his eponymous label in 1990 and the brand now has two flagship stores in both Delhi and Mumbai as well as one in Hyderabad. The brand is also present in a number of multi-brand boutiques in India as well as in Japan, Nigeria, and the UK.
