Tagwalk is the first search engine for fashion shows

Alexandra Van Houtte was formerly a designer for Grazia and Numero magazines, and an assistant designer at Lanvin at the time of Alber Elbaz. Now she is in charge of the first search engine for fashion shows, devised to help the work of designers, journalists, fashion students and style departments.

The Tag-walk.com website uses the keywords most commonly featured on Instagram, style.com and Pinterest to launch refined searches originating from the looks presented on the catwalks in Paris, New York, London and Milan. Currently the site hosts images for over 8,500 looks.

"It's a sort of Google for fashion, explained Alexandra Van Houtte. Starting from a chosen theme and a keyword, military-style clothes for example, or from several keywords related to colours or styles, the site will display all of the season's looks related to the search in question."

Besides the looks search, the website also offers other options, such as the creation of mood boards, with the possibility of saving them on pdf or printing them directly, and a simplified system for storing images, in order to find them easily on one's pc.

The site's data base was initially created from the official shows' looks, and from next week it will extend to accessories. It is also expected to include such 'mass-market' brands as Sandro, Zadig et Voltaire or The Kooples, as well as menswear and international brands, since the site also features an English-language version.

Web users will be able to access Tag-walk.com for free, as will the brands featured in official fashion shows, and young designers. Other brands and designers who are not showing, and who wish to have their look-books published on the site, will have to pay a fee.

Another option for appearing on the site is to purchase web space through columns such as 'Trend of the week', 'Colour of the week' or 'Designer of the week', which will allow brands to be featured on the site's data base.
