The Snapdeal Makar Sankranti sale is currently running from January 7 to 9 and, as part of this event, a special store has been set up to cater to the needs of customers attending or organising a birth ceremony or wedding, with a strong focus on clothing. The Lohri-Sankranti store stocks juttis, turbans, parandi, phulkari duppata, maang tikka, patialas, and kurta pyjamas to name but a few traditional wear items.

As part of the business’ celebrations for welcoming the new financial year in the Hindu calendar, a selection of finance themed gift items such as piggy banks are also available at the store. A selection of festive food items are also available including peanuts, dhol, ghee, jiggery, and even popcorn makers. Hawan essentials and Pooja preparation materials are also on sale. The store’s ethnic wear sections also have an 80 percent discount promotion across most items. This comprises kids wear, womenswear, and menswear.

Snapdeal began to fall behind Flipkart and Amazon in 2017 when it came to apparel and they are currently working on working on ways to lure customers back to their site. Having a strong religious and ethnic wear focus is one strategy they are pursuing and the closing revenue from this campaign will show whether this strategy is paying off.
