Launched on November 2, Mukherjee’s collection is available exclusively in the Lane Crawford department store in Hong Kong. As the collection is for a global audience, there is a focus on western silhouettes as opposed to the traditional garments Mukherjee is known for, but his signature style is apparent is the clothing’s embellishments and detailing. The collection features a little black dress, cocktail dresses, and more extravagant gowns. The colour scheme focuses on black, gold, and mint green with other garments in bright red.

Speaking about his inspiration for the collection, Mukherjee said: “I imagined glorious travellers, flying in private jets from all over the world to China Club in cross cultural handmade clothing. I imagined women in Indian textiles, oriental reds, chinoiserie prints and sparkle, sitting upright on bright canvas clad chairs playing bridge and Mahjong with feral intimidation.” This is the first time Mukherjee has designed a collection for Lane Crawford and the first batch sold out as soon as it went live. A second batch has now been made available in store and on the department store’s own e-commerce site.

Lane Crawford was founded in 1850 and is a multi-brand luxury department store located in Hong Kong’s Central district. The store houses over 1,000 international fashion brands encompassing menswear, womenswear, shoes, cosmetics, and accessories.
