On August 23, the second day of LFW and “Sustainable Fashion Day”, Rajesh Pratap Singh showed his collection for the winter festive season with the tagline “Welcome to the Jungle”. The collection was the last show of the day and presented in collaboration with the LFW sponsor and sustainable fibre brand Tencel.

The collection was described by LFW as a “first-time-ever ethnic style collection of both womenswear and menswear” which was created using Tencel sustainable textiles. The ecological textiles used were mixed with traditional sustainable weaves such as Chanderi, Banarasi, and Jamdani. Singh sketched designs that were turned into block prints especially for the collection and were inspired by natural motifs.

The colour palette featured pure white and greys as well as iridescent gold and deep red. Tailoring, suits, and coats provided a formal component to the collection but more free-flowing garments such as a white robe-esque coat dress added diversity. Models wore gold trainers or sandals, had slicked back hair, and wore no makeup save for a painterly white smear across the face.

LFW is currently running from August 22 to 26 at the St Regis in Mumbai. The winter festive 2018 sponsors include Nexa, IMG Reliance, Tencel, and Etihad Airways among others.
