Paytm Mall becomes Google Play Store's most popular app
The Paytm Mall app launched only this year but has already become Google Play’s top Indian app. This shows how much progress the service has made since launching only recently and also shows a wider trend for online shopping as well as online to offline (O2O) synchronisation.
Online purchasing in India has been on the increase since demonetisation a year ago as well as the increased popularity of online shopping in the country. Many online payment merchants are now working towards bridging the gap between online and offline purchasing, using online payments to purchase goods and services offline. Paytm Mall is one of the services seeking to do this as the online shop for Paytm’s payments bank and, after being made available in app format, its popularity has skyrocketed.
Paytm Mall currently delivers to 17,000 pin codes across India and they are continuing to increase that number. Alongside being named as Google’s most popular Indian app, Paytm Mall’s parent Paytm is also the fastest growing online payments company in India and, as online payments continue to boom and brands seek out new customers in non-metro cities, this shows no sign of slowing.
