Nudie Jeans opens first NYC repair shop
Nudie Jeans announced Monday the opening of its first Repair Shop in New York City located at 188 Bowery in Nolita. The new store is the 20th location to open globally from the Swedish brand.
The brand’s in-house interior architecture team designed the 1,400-square-foot store with antique lighting fixtures, steel shelving, vintage, reclaimed fixtures, original redbrick walls and raw concrete flooring that nod to the neighborhood.
Joakim Levin, cofounder and chairman, and the visionary behind the Repair Shops states, “New York has been a sought-after location for some time, and we are excited to set up a long-term home in a neighborhood which feels natural and almost DNA-like to put roots down. It’s exciting to bring our full concept to the bustle of New York through our full product presentations, but also the personal translation of our core values through our repair service and face-to-face interaction with the local audience."
The Nolita store carries various Nudie Jeans styles and offers the brand's award-winning free denim repair service. In 2014, Nudie Jeans repaired 30,000 jeans and it expects to repair over 40,000 pairs of jeans by the end of 2015.
The New York City location joins Nudie Jeans stores in London, Los Angeles, Stockholm, Oslo, Berlin, Tokyo, Osaka, Sydney and the brand’s hometown, Gothenburg.
