In her new role, Penick will be responsible for driving the luxury department store's digital transformation and managing the Bergdorf Goodman brand, through both its two Manhattan flagships and its online platform. She will report directly to Neiman Marcus Group CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck.

Penick returns to the company from Shopbop, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., where, since 2016, she led the e-commerce fashion business' development as CEO, with a particular focus on customer engagement.

Prior to this she served as divisional merchandise manager, then chief merchandising officer at the company.

From 2006 to 2009, the Wellesley College graduate worked as senior buyer at Saks, having started her career serving in a series of cross-category merchandising roles at Neiman Marcus Group, for the Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman brands.

"Darcy’s impressive leadership skills coupled with her success in digital and international retail make her the perfect choice to accelerate global growth at Bergdorf Goodman," stated van Raemdonck in a release. "I have every confidence that Darcy will partner with our very talented existing team to bring even greater luster to Bergdorf Goodman and continue to elevate the brand as one of the world’s most prestigious luxury retailers."

Penick's appointment is effective September 4, 2018.
