McGregor opens Paris flagship store

Emmanuel Galle, CEO of McGregor France, had long dreamed of this boutique on the Boulevard des Capucines, which today houses McGregor's Paris flagship store (signed by the Commercial Real Estate firm M. Kohn). It was in 2005 that the executive began to covet the location operated by Arfan jewelry. Meanwhile, Furla had already taken over the place. Then the Italian leather goods brand began to be distributed…

Almost neighboring Lacoste and Hackett, the McGregor store boasts 17 feet of facade. If the surface covers a “mere” 200 meters, the ceiling height and configuration of space gives it a New York look. This is reinforced by the fact that the American flag is "planted" in various places, including behind the counter which is made of old books. It's a nod to its history, as the brand was born overseas in the early twentieth century, although it is now owned by a Dutch company.

The sheer size of the interior and the layout, a mix of furniture made for the occasion and antique furniture, reflect the luxe American way of life also found at a competitor such as Gant, also located on the Boulevard des Capucines. This flagship store references all of the brand's lines: sportswear (the most important), the city line (Distinction) and the Twenty One line, a younger line, which will acquire its first eponymous point of sale in a few days in Amsterdam.

For Emmanuel Galle, the location offers a good mix of tourist traffic, including Chinese and Russian, as well as the Parisian clientele and the wider French one. And then the entire area is changing with, for example, the installation of one of the largest stores of high-end watches in the world, in place of the now-closed New England store.

McGregor is currently distributed in France through six monobrands, with branches in Paris as well as Lille, and partners in Quiberon, La Rochelle, Limoges and Sables d'Olonne. Its last three stores opened just this February. Overall, Emmanuel Galle is aiming at between 35 and 45 monobrand stores in France, including branches in major cities.

The brand also counts 30 shop-in-shops in large department stores and 200 multibrand stores. The latter will also undoubtedly discover the branch on the Boulevard des Capucines, as McGregor's showroom is being installed there in the 1600 square feet lower ground floor.
