Maybelline announces first male brand ambassador
Jan 5, 2017
Maybelline has announced its newest brand ambassadors for 2017, including a man in the line-up for the first time ever. Beauty vlogger Manny Gutierrez will be the first male to ever front a series of videos and promotional images for the beauty giant.

Gutierrez, also known by his screen name MannyMUA733, has earned 3 million followers on his Instagram channel from posting photos of his make-up creations on himself.
The 26-year-old is passionate about breaking the gender barriers around make-up, announcing in a statement that he is “thrilled to be able to work with a global brand like Maybelline that is recognizing male influencer talent and is willing to shine a spotlight on it.” Gutierrez will be joined in the campaign by make-up artist Shayla, also known by her username MakeUpShayla.
Maybelline isn’t the first major cosmetic company to tap a male spokesmodel. In October of 2016, CoverGirl recruited teen make-up artist and social media star James Charles to front Covergirl’s new campaigns. Brands like Milk Makeup and Anastasia New York have featured male models in various promotional materials.
