Madewell launches global e-commerce site
Madewell on Thursday announced the launch of its international e-commerce website that will deliver products to over 100 countries worldwide. The brand will be available for the first time in countries in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
“Since launching Madewell back in 2006, we’ve been hearing from customers around the world that they want anytime access to our goods. We are excited to announce that as of this week we are now able to bring the cool-girl style that Madewell is famous for to customers in over 100 countries,” states Millard Drexler, chairman and CEO of J.Crew Group, Inc.
Madewell is a brand by J. Crew that has become an international favorite for its denim roots and signature styles like its high rise skinny jeans and Transport Tote. The brand opened its first store in 2006 and is expected to have over 100 US retail locations by the end of 2015.
Madewell continues to perform well for J. Crew, increasing business year over year. In Q2, Madewell increased in sales by 27% compared to last year. This year, the brand’s former head of design, Somsack Sikhounmoung was named head of women’s design for J. Crew, and he was replaced by Joyce Lee who has been a senior member of the Madewell design crew for seven years.
