Lidewij Edelkoort new Dean of Hybrid Design Studies

Lidewij Edelkoort likes to think of design in its globality. And it is with this vision that she will set about in her new role as of this September. Indeed, the Parsons School of Design announced the appointment of the founder of Trend Union as its Dean of Hybrid Design Studies.

This role will apply to the Parsons Schools in both New York and Paris. Her mission: to develop hybrid design and liberal arts programs, create projects and curriculum for freshman, strengthen Textile Design and develop new approaches to Costume and Couture Design.

"Lidewij Edelkoort brings a way of thinking and of using design that will be an inspiration for both faculty and students,” said Susan Taylor-Leduc, dean of Parsons Paris. “Her unique vision of the future of design, and the role designers, and entrepreneurs will play, will be instrumental as she helps to build our curriculum."

Previously, Edelkoort directed the Design Academy Eindhoven and established the Designhuis. She also helped to establish the School of Form in Poznan, Poland for students in Eastern Europe and created Trend Tablet, an interactive online forum that teaches about the power of design to shape our lived experience.
