The beauty industry too is keen to exploit the latest technology innovations, as shown this week by French cosmetics giant L'Oréal, winner of the International Innovation Prize with its connected hair brush at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show

The connected hair brush and app, by L'Oréal Kérastase - L'Oréal

The brush was devised by the L’Oréal Recherche incubator, together with French start-up Withings, a specialist in connected health. The hair brush and its app will be retailed under the Kérastase label, and are designed to allow their users to take better care of their hair and scalp.

Thanks to a built-in microphone and several sensors, the brush sends information about the number and strength of brush-strokes to the app, which then formulates suggestions and advice.

The product will be retailed to the general public halfway through the year, at a price below €200. It will be available at Kérastase hair salons and on the brand's e-store, and at selected stores featured in the Withings network.
