Although Jabong still has no plans to expand offline as many fashion e-commerce sites are currently doing, the business is expanding into the premium and luxury section of the apparel market. Jabong reported that its Big Brand Sale earlier this year was a great success with traffic increasing four fold and this has no doubt spurred the business on to push designer labels.

Gunjan Soni, Jabong’s Head and the Chief Marketing Officer at Myntra, spoke on the side-lines of the recent India Fahsion Forum (IFF) 2018 and said: “Jabong is making a lot of waves when it comes to the luxury segment and in April we expect to launch both a luxury store and a designer store in line with the expectations of our consumers. The launch of the stores is in line with our belief that the Indian customer is ready to experience both these segments online. The luxury store will see several innovations because if we are bringing luxury online, we actually want to create an experience that is different.”

As both Jabong and Myntra are owned by the e-commerce giant Flipkart and concentrate on fashion, they occupy a similar section of the market. However, as Jabong is looking towards the premium section of the market, Myntra is currently expanding its value fashion section. “Luxury as a category will be available on both Myntra and Jabong, but these specific stores will be launched only on Jabong,” clarified Soni at the IFF.
