Harvey Nichols names new menswear chief as retailer grows men's footprint

Luxury retailer Harvey Nichols has announced that David Aquilina will be joining the business as head of menswear.
He replaces Darren Skey, who left the upmarket department stores chain after eight years in the role to pursue new opportunities.
David Aquilina has a strong CV as a menswear buyer, having held roles at some of the world’s largest fashion and footwear retailers in the premium and luxury segment. In addition to being head of menswear at Kurt Geiger, Aquilina has worked as international buyer for Lane Crawford and consulted for Harrods across the Luxury Collections business.
At Harvey Nichols, he will be responsible for overseeing the total menswear offering in all eight stores in the UK and Ireland.
The change comes at a key time for the retailer's menswear business. Last year Harvey Nichols overhauled its London flagship’s menswear department to tap into the booming men's fashion market. UK menswear is expected to grow by 29.2% by 2021, outpacing womenswear and driving growth in the UK clothing industry, according to a report from Verdict Retail.
Harvey Nichols’ menswear space on the lower ground floor of the Knightsbridge store now spreads over 28,000 sq ft space and hosts more than 270 brands, as well as a barbershop and pop-up space.
