Globus sees business double in fashion accessory segment

Globus Fashion has seen accessories sales consistently rise which could lead to more accessories-only stores following the recent launch in Benglauru.

Globus recently launched its first accessories only store in Mantri Mall in Benglauru, a big step for a brand that started off selling only small amounts of jewellery. The business now retails a wide range of accessories and, according the business’ COO, Amit Kumar, this could be a great opportunity for growth.

“We have actually been doubling the business in accessory segment season after season,” Kumar told Indiaretailing. “Initially, we started accessory segment with just imitation jewellery but with the passage of time, we have added nail paints, sunglasses, watches, bags, footwear and hair accessories to the portfolio. So, this is one category which is really growing for us. It has given a lot of confidence to us.”

Although future accessories store openings have not yet been announced, the aim is to continue to expand the concept. “At present, we are concentrating on getting the model right. Once the model is right, I guess that this is one big opportunity for us,” explained Kumar.

Along with accessories, Globus has focused in on Khadi for the current financial year. After opening “Khadi Corners” in collaboration with the government agency KVIC, stores now have dedicated sections for Khadi clothing and accessories.
