Furla has taken the internal appointment route to find a successor to Eraldo Poletto, its former CEO who left last July to take charge of Salvatore Ferragamo. The Italian leather goods label has in fact promoted its COO, Alberto Camerlengo, 52, to the company's top post.

Camerlengo joined the Italian accessible luxury brand six years ago. He formerly worked as COO of US watch brand Fossil, from 1999 to 2004, then was CEO of Brooks Brothers Europe until he joined Furla in 2011.

"This appointment sends a strong message of continuity, highlighting the company's intention to continue to grow and expand," said the group's President Giovanna Furlanetto in a press release.
