Fossil partners with Reliance Retail to expand India presence
US luxury watch brand Fossil has partnered with Reliance Digital, the digital wing of Reliance Retail, to expand its presence in the country and give a fillip to its recently launched range of smart watches.
With this partnership the Fossil smart watch range will give a major boost as it will be available to consumers across all leading Reliance Digital outlets.
Fossil, which launched its smart watch range in India in 201,6 used to cater to mostly consumers in the metros and with Reliance looks to tap into the lucrative tier I, tier II markets for further growth.
Johnson Verghese, VP, managing director, Fossil India in a statement said, " We are well represented across most department chain formats and this is our first ever association with a consumer electronics chain. Our connected watches are crafted to achieve the perfect balance between function and fashion; we are happy to say this will also add a fashion perspective to the robust range of wearable tech available at Reliance Digital."
Brian Bade, CEO, Reliance Digital added: "'Wearable Tech' is fast becoming a necessity and the addition of Fossil smart watches to our robust Wearable Tech portfolio offers wider choice to our customers, all under one roof."
Apart from strategic tie ups like these, Fossil is also spending a lot on marketing of its smart watch segment and recently signed Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Shruti Haasan as brand ambassadors for the Indian market. The actors will be seen endorsing the new range of Fossil touchscreen, smartwatches by end of this year.
The Fossil range include smartwatches, hybrid watches and fitness bands spread across its sub-brands Fossil Q, Skagen Connected and Misfit with a starting price of Rs 7500 (approx $120).
Fossil group currently has around 550 points of sales across the country, which includes exclusive outlets, departmental stores and multi-brand outlets.
