Fashion Scout will showcase Masaba Gupta's designs at London Fashion Week
India Day at London Fashion Week, which will run from the 15th to the 19th of September, will see a showcase of designers supported by the International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) and it is at that showcase that Masaba Gupta will present her collection alongside others. House of Masaba, Gupta’s fashion label, has taken the theme of Madagascar for its upcoming collection. Gupta recently stated that she has stopped naming her collections and now focuses on moods.
Gupta has taken this opportunity to showcase her designs in London as a catalyst to tailor her designs to a different audience. Gupta stated that she tailored her design process to suit the potential customers in London and said, “We realised that the client overseas may not always want bold striking colours that we do a lot of, so decided to work with a classic palette of tans and ochres around this line. You will see a lot of monochrome and we will style our separates in way that is more appealing to the sensibilities there.”
Before the showcase, a pop-up shop will also be opened in London to allow Gupta to connect with her potential British customers. Gupta is also bringing this concept to Singapore as she will also hose a trunk show there for the next few months.
Gupta will also show at Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai, which runs from the 16th to the 20th August, with another Madagascar themed collection but one tailored more to Indian tastes. Moreover, Gupta is continuing to add products to her affordably priced line and items now start at rs 299. Gupta said that she wanted to make her brand accessible to younger girls who follow her label but may not be able to afford her clothes.
