Ermanno Scervino in the international fast lane

Renowned for its craftsmanship, especially in embroidery, the Italian ready-to-wear brand for women, men and children continues to expand. In ten years, the company has taken its turnover from the ten million euro level to 93 million in 2011, increasingly focused on exports, now 65% of its sales.

Distributed through some 500 multibrand customers worldwide, Ermanno Scervino has 34 single brand shops that will now be augmented by five new outlets retail outlets in September. The label just opened a shop in Ibiza, in the port's shopping center, an important hub of the island's social life. The company is thus positioned to strengthen its presence in Spain in addition to its location in Madrid. The shop is designed as a small showroom devoted entirely to women, fronted by three large display windows.

“Ibiza is part of an expansion plan that anticipates our presence in Dubai (UAE), Taipei (Taiwan), Krasnodar (Russia), Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine) between now and September, bringing the number of our single brand shops to 39 around the world,” said CEO Toni Scervino. The opening of Dubai in particular, scheduled for August, is the first step for the brand in developing retail operations in the Arab world.

Asia is the other pole of brand's expansion, which in addition to the Taipei location, already has five stores in Japan, two in South Korea, plus stores in Russia and flourishing Eastern Europe. In the scope of such global activity, the brand designed the London Olympic uniforms for the Azerbaijan team athletes.

“Our focus on emerging markets — where the Made in Italy label is associated with values such as quality, beauty, luxury — this has proven us to be right. Again this year, we believe that our turnover will increase by 3%,” said Toni Scervino. The group, which ended fiscal year 2011 with sales of 93 million euro, expects to reach 96 million this year and is aiming for 100 million euros in 2013.

Born in 1999 during a meeting between the designer Daelli Ermanno and entrepreneur Toni Scervino, the brand has launched a second line called Ermanno, produced by Ittierre, a company known for its ability to combine tradition and craftsmanship with innovation and experimental research. Located in Bagno a Ripoli on a hill in Chianti near Florence, the site houses laboratories for prototyping and manufacturing as well as the hosiery, sewing and embroidery workshops. The facilities were acquired by the company in 2003 and are scheduled to be doubled in size soon.
