El Corte Inglés and Samsung have unveiled a partnership that allows El Corte Ingles card holders to pay for their purchases in store with the Samsung Pay app. This is the first time a private label card provider has linked with the mobile payment app.

Shoppers can now link their El Corte Ingles store card to their Samsung Pay account - El Corte Inglés

“This partnership is part of the strive for technological innovation and customer service that the company has had since its origins. We have partnered with a leading company, which allows us to be at the forefront of a pioneering initiative worldwide,” commented Antonio Ortega, sales and marketing director at El Corte Ingles.

More than 11 million consumers have currently an El Corte Ingles payment card. For these shoppers, creating a digital card on Samsung Pay will mean access to a faster and safe payment method, said the companies.

Samsung Pay uses biometrics, card tokenisation and its mobile security platform Samsung Knox to authenticate transactions instantly.

“With this collaboration, the Corte Ingles card becomes the first private label card to be integrated into a mobile payment system worldwide,” said Celestino Garcia, corporate VP of Samsung Spain.

The store card is widely used in Spain. Shoppers can get their hands on the card for free and it offers various payment methods, exclusive deals and free parking for purchases over 30 euros.
