The Italian luxury fashion label asked Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen to devise its Spring-Summer 2016 campaign. This new partnership is part of a series of joint initiatives called 'The Art of Collaboration', between Bottega Veneta and renowned photography artists.

The background for the new series of pictures is none less than the Enamel Garden, Jean Dubuffet's monumental sculpture exhibited in the gardens of the Kröller-Müller museum in Otterlo, the Netherlands. The sculpture's immaculate white colour allowed Viviane Sassen to play freely with contrasts, highlighting the mood of Bottega Veneta's latest collection, inspired by vast open spaces and nature.

The collection's red colours notably predominate in the pictures, whether as a detail, through an accessory, or when a whole outfit is featured. Colours and materials are showcased by two models, Mica Arganaraz and Sven de Vries,in poses that are wholly unusual for this kind of  photo shoot.

"Viviane's work is both aesthetic and enigmatic. Her images are fascinating, both for the world they create and the sensation of mystery issuing from every picture. I admire her daring, how she experiments and takes nothing for granted, though always remaining sure-footed," said Tomas Maier, the fashion label's creative director.

The new campaign will add to the wealth of collaborations between the Italian label and a multiplicity of artists, from Nan Goldin to Juergen Teller, Peter Lindbergh, Pieter Hugo, and Nobuyoshi Araki.
