Global e-commerce firm Amazon has set up virtual reality (VR) Amazon prime day experience zones in the country’s top metro cities to promote its second prime day event in India.

Amazon India launches VR Experience Zones in metro cities - Amazon India

The experience zones have been set up in malls in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata which will allow customers to experience new products launching exclusively on Prime Day. The VR experience aims to bring the touch-and-try concept to online shopping.

Explaining the concept, Akshay Sahi, Head of Prime, Amazon India, in a statement said, “Prime is designed to make life easier, more convenient and more fun for customers. With this virtual reality experience, we are helping customers discover and experience great products that are yet to launch.”

“Customers can check the fit & fall of the latest Marks & Spencer dress on a 360 degree hologram, pick up an Amrapali necklace and inspect the intricate details up close, open a Bosch microwave placed in a kitchen countertop to visualize how it would look in their home,” he added.

Prime Day is the flagship event of Amazon and will be held from 12 noon July 16 to midnight July 17 where Prime members will see 200 exclusive launches and other deals. Amazon Prime Day experience zones will be operational until 17 July from 12 noon to 8 pm.
