Contemporary brand Alexander Wang has appointed Colleen Collins as chief operating officer in what is a new position at the company. Founded in 2007 by the designer himself, the label is looking to pursue its global business strategy.

Joining the company in 2012 as a consultant, Collins had previously spent 20 years at New York brand Diane Von Furstenberg. The exec will report to the label’s CEO Rodrigo Bazan, who took on his role in 2010.

Though the designer is now splitting time between Paris and New York after being named creative director of Kering-owned Balenciaga, his own independent line has seen strong growth of late. In just one year, Alexander Wang has opened a dozen stores and concessions, bringing its total number of points of sale up to 20. In her new role, Collins will work on operations and global business strategy.
