Acne leaves London Fashion Week for Paris

After being a regular for years at London Fashion Week, Acne is moving its women’s collections to Paris for its next runway show. Last Friday the brand showed its menswear Autumn-Winter 2013/2014 collection. The Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear Couturiers and Fashion Designers has granted the brand the Saturday afternoon slot for its women’s line.

According to our information, Acne has already reserved the location of its runway show, namely the halls of the Grand Palais. Acne has already been a member of the Trade Union of Men’s Fashion since 2011.

Acne will debut at Paris Fashion Week on Saturday, March 2.

The stakes are enormous for this independent label with an unusual history. Acne started out as an advertising agency and now runs a world-renowned house of contemporary luxury. Acne’s international sales are managed from its offices in the Marais district of Paris, so bringing both the men’s and women’s runway shows to Paris makes perfect sense.

The company’s headquarters in Stockholm are located in a former bank in the heart of Sweden’s capital, which houses the studio of Swedish creative director Jonny Johansson as well as the operational and publishing activities of the company. The brand has a subsidiary in New York and recently created another in Tokyo, where it just opened the first flagship for its Aoyama brand.
