Abof to offer on-spot alteration service
Jun 14, 2016
With one fifth of its returns pertaining to size and fitting issues, Aditya Birla Group-owned online fashion store Abof is looking to launch an on-spot alteration service beginning with Bengaluru and parts of Hyderabad.
"The initiative will help us reduce returns and drive customer satisfaction for alteration,” COO Sukanta Das said in Bengaluru adding that the decision has been taken after his company conducted a two-month pilot programme in that city.
"In Bengaluru we are partnering with YourTailor.in while in other cities we will partner with similar start ups to power this through a vendor-partner relationship. After Hyderabad we plan to expand the service to Pune, Mumbai and Delhi-NCR," Das said.
The company attributes 15-20 per cent of its shipments to this service, which it currently provides for free to customers. Flipkart-owned fashion portal Myntra offers a similar service at a minimum cost of Rs 50 to customers while ethnic products marketplace Craftsvilla had started a similar service to get unstitched material stitched through its network of tailors.
Abof delivers across 7,500 pincodes, with an average order size of about Rs 1,000.
India's online fashion and lifestyle market is expected to overtake consumer electronics by 2020, according to a report by Google India, and has seen marquee brands and traditional retailers enter the business.
