Abercrombie & Fitch signs an exclusive agreement with Inter Parfums

Inter Parfums Inc has signed an exclusive 7-year global licensing agreement with American brand Abercrombie & Fitch. This contract includes the creation, production and distribution of men's and women's fragrances for the Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister fashion labels.

These fragrances due to arrive on the market in 2016 could generate between 400 and 500 million dollar within five years, Women’s Wear Daily said.

Abercrombie & Fitch "Fierce"

Jean Madar, the CEO of Inter Parfums Inc, explained to the American trade journal that Abercrombie & Fitch could thus take 5th place in the group's global portfolio (Inter Parfums Inc based in New York and its European branch Interparfums SA).

It even pointed out that in two or three years the creator of perfumes under license could return to the same level as with the Burberry license, which left the group in March 2013.

For its part, Abercrombie & Fitch - which launched its first eponymous cologne for men distributed in its stores in 2002 - will be able to benefit from the expertise and global distribution network of Inter Parfums, which envisions 6,000 retail points with this new license: from department stores to perfume shops to duty free.

Which is good news given that Abercrombie & Fitch, which is recording negative numbers, has been navigating troubled water especially since the departure on 9 December of its CEO Michael Jeffries.
