The Berlin-based online retailer is accelerating its international expansion with the opening of a new tech hub in Helsinki, reported the company’s founder, Robert Genz to the German newspaper Berliner Morgenpost on Monday. The new office will focus on the development of innovative customer-facing apps.

Zalando is also planning on implementing a fast-track delivery service in Germany, which could see orders being delivered half an hour after being placed. For this, however, the company needs to secure local partners, as it is not currently planning to open further centres.

In April, Zalando unveiled in Dublin, Ireland, its first operations hub outside Germany, where it will create up to 200 new jobs over the next three years. The e-tailer is also set to expand its operations in Germany, which already employs over 700 people.

The rapid expansion follows Zalando’s aim to boost its fashion platform. In the second quarter of 2015 the fashion platform saw around 57% of its traffic come from mobile devices, exceeding visits from desktops and resulting in close to 16.4 million active customers by the end of the quarter.
