Kanye West and Adidas’ much-anticipated collaboration collection, Adidas Yeezy Season 1, released on October 29 and it is almost sold out after 5 days of being available at retail, according to the American media.

On Thursday morning, a line formed at the Barneys New York flagship store on Madison Avenue just 5 hours before the store opened. The Daily Mail reported that customers arrived Wednesday evening to receive a wristband from the retailer before they lined up again the following morning. “Some 14 police officers and seven security guards stood watching as they queued from 5am for the Yeezy shoes,” said the website.

Most customers had their sights set on the Yeezy Boost 950 duck boot, a camouflage shirt and thermal shirts. They spent as much as $4,000 on the expensive collection.

Fashionista reported that Alchemist in Miami also had a line early Thursday morning that formed around 8am. The store sold through its entire stock of the 950 boot within the hour after opening, as did A Ma Maniere in Atlanta which was selling the boot strictly in-store.

Black Market USA, a menswear retailer in Arlington, TX also had a line form, according to WWD. Keith Tran, Co-owner of Black Market USA, told the publication, “By the time the doors opened in the morning, we had about 35 to 40 people in line with most waiting for over three hours. The first person waited 12 hours to shop the collection.” By Friday afternoon, the store sold through all of the collection except for the coats.

The Webster in Miami held a cocktail party for its private clients on Thursday evening for the launch of the collection. The retailer sold the remainder of the collection at its Miami and Bal Harbour locations on Friday.

Online retailers had similar sell-throughs on the collection. GQ reported that End Clothing, Mr. Porter and Barneys have sold through most of the collection online with the 950 boot and the thermals sweaters being the first to go. SSense seems to be the only website with the most stock available.

The sell-through on the Yeezy Boost 950 boot comes as no surprise. West’s Yeezy Boost 750 and 350 sneakers sold out within minutes upon their releases this year. The next footwear release will be the Yeezy Boost 350 trainer in Tan, which is expected to sell immediately like the four footwear releases that preceded it.

The apparel sales are rather shocking considering the high price tag on the collection and the age range of West’s young fan base (though that has no bearing on income level). Prices for the collection began at $180 for a tanktop and reached as high as $3,510 for a parka. Many customers took to social media to express their outrage of the prices, but that hasn’t stopped the collection from almost selling out at over 30 retailers in the US in a span of 5 days.
