Woolmark has joined forces with Nissan to create the team uniforms for the automaker’s Formula E race team, a new link-up emphasizing innovative fashion in high performance natural fabrics.

Made in Merino wool, the entire team kit is composed of T-shirts, polo shirts, shirts,
trousers, shorts, mid-layers, softshell jackets and caps.

The collab debuts in the upcoming season, the ninth since the launch in 2014 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, to give it its complete name. The season will also be the fifth in which Nissan will race in Formula E, a competition designed to blend high-speed excitement with zero-emission electric racecars before a global audience.

“We have pioneered the use of wool across the world, collaborating with leading brands on material development, functionality and aesthetics to constantly innovate. The Nissan Formula E Team has the ambition to do things differently, and are redefining the way we wear wool by bringing the fiber’s innate performance to the motorsport industry,” said Woolmark’s managing director John Roberts in a release.

The new Merino wool racing kit will be visible during the whole of Season 9, which kicks off in Mexico with Round 1 on January 14 and ends late July in London. The Woolmark Company will also be present in the E-village of the 12 different cities, while Nissan’s racing cars will be flocked with the Woolmark logo.

Created with durability and performance in mind, the Merino blend wool kit is composed of base-
layers, mid-layers, outer-layers and includes an average of 50% Merino wool to enhance performance through the wool’s technical benefits.

“Partnering with the Woolmark Company was a natural but conscious decision for us, as we continue to look for more sustainable solutions in line with Nissan’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality across all operations and the life cycle of our products by 2050,” added Tommaso Volpe, managing director of Nissan Formula E Team.
