Woodland will add another 60 retail outlets to its current total of over 600 company-owned stores in India. The brand, which also has a presence in over 5,000 multi-brand stores across the country, will concentrate on small towns and metros for its current expansion plan. Strengthening its franchise model will help the brand to expand into non-metro towns where there is an emerging customer base.

The brand is also working to strengthen its omni-channel strategy and is investing in its online business. Woodland India’s managing director, Harkirat Singh, told IndiaRetailing that online sales in India are expected to reach 40 percent of total country sales in the next three to four years. The brand aims to synchronise its retail channels across mobile devices, TV, brick-and-mortar outlets, catalogues, and radio among other channels.

Woodland is also exploring implementing a range of technology into its designs. “We have already launched GPS embedded jackets, BOA shoes, client T-shirts, and many more new technologies and innovations in products are in pipeline,” said Singh.

The Quebec-based brand retails from over 40 countries and is currently expanding its presence in South-East Asia as well as West Asia, Europe, and the USA. Woodland entered India in 1992.
