Wipro Consumer Care opens Rs 300-crore factory in Hyderabad

Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting has strengthened its manufacturing capacities with the opening of a new factory in Maheshwaram with an investment of Rs 300 crore ($39.8 million).
The company will use the facility to product its personal care products like Santoor soaps, hand wash, and Yardley talcum powder, along with other products.
The factory was inaugurated by Telangana industries minister K T Rama Rao, and founder and chairman of Wipro Group, Azim Premji.
Commenting on the opening of its new facility, Vineet Agrawal, CEO, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting said in a statement said, “At this facility, we have created direct and indirect employment of about 900 people; over 90 percent of employees are locals and about 15 percent are women.”
“We have a strong local vendor-base around our factory that has created employment for the local community,” he added.
Wipro Consumer Care, which started in 1945, is one of the leading players in India’s personal care segment with brands like Santoor, Romano, and Yardley.
