Welspun India resumes operations in Gujarat

Textiles major Welspun India has resumed partial operations at its manufacturing facilities at Vapi and Anjar in Gujarat, after receiving the required permissions from the government authorities.

Welspun had suspended manufacturing operations at the units on March 24, following the announcement of nationwide lockdown by the government, to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
 
Under new guidelines for the extended lockdown till May 3, the home ministry has allowed industrial units to resume partial operations from April 20, following which factories have opened and started manufacturing their products.

“In continuation of our earlier disclosure dated March 24, 2020, we hereby inform that we have received permissions from administrative authorities of Valsad District and Kutch District in the state of Gujarat to start operations with effect from April 21, 2020, and the company has resumed partial operations,” Welspun said in a regulatory filing.
 
For the financial year 2018-19, Welspun reported a net profit of Rs 210 crore ($27.5 million) with a revenue of Rs 6,527 crore.
