Swiss company Weleda is set for success as the demand for organic cosmetics continues its rise. Sales revenue of shampoos, creams, medicinal products and others items increased by 7% to 389 million euros (or $449 million at current exchange rates), it announced on Tuesday at its headquarters in Arlesheim.

Excluding the effect of exchange rates, revenue grew by 5%, due to the strong Swiss Franc. Further details of its profits and losses were not disclosed by the company.

Weleda’s largest branch is located in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, where it employs 1,000 people. For the company, the organic beauty segment accounts for nearly two thirds of its total revenue, while naturopathic medicines generate the rest.

Germany has enjoyed a continued growth in the organic cosmetics market in the past few years, and Weleda has seen competitors such as Speick and Wala’s Dr Hauschka benefit from the rise too.
