Weaves Texvalley textile fair welcomes over 6,000 visitors in South India

The Weaves Texvalley textile fair, which ran from December 5 to 8 in Tamil Nadu, recorded the attendance of 1,200 buyers, and over 7,000 delegates (1,000 more than the event had previously predicted on its website), hailing from both India and abroad.

The four day textile fair included seminars, the launch of the book “Titans of Tamil Nadu Textiles”, and a fashion show the conclude the fair among other features. The event took place at the Texvalley wholesale textile mall in Erode, Tamil Nadu, which is home to five lakh artisans, 2.5 lakh looms, and produces 15 million metres of textiles a day.

The event saw 204 exhibitors from Erode itself as well as Karur, Chennimalai, Madurai, Varanasi, Bangalore, West Bengal, Kerala, Coimbatore, Salem, Tirupur, and Namakkal. The event reported over 654 meetings taking place over the course of the four days as well as 29 memorandums of understanding signed with educational institutions overseen by State Ministers. In the business to business pavilion, the event reported transactions totalling over Rs 450 crore ($67.6 million).

Some of the textile products that feature at the event included ethnic wear, Greige Fabrics, yarn, accessories, handloom and Khadi, finished garments, and knitted textiles. The exhibitors comprised textile associations, weavers, artisans, and retailers among other businesses. 

Sponsors of the event included CMAI, SIMA, TEA, SRTEPC, Texprocil, and PDEXCIL among others. Visitors hailed from a number of countries including the US, Srilanka, Oman, South Africa, Dubai, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Russia and a large number of domestic visitors also took part.
