Walmart opens fourth Telangana store in Warangal City
Walmart India opened its 27th cash and carry store in India in Warangal city, strengthening its presence in Telangana. The US-owned business believes the opening has created 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
Walmart opened its fourth “Best Price Modern Wholesale Store” in Telangana, the business announced in a press release on September 18. The wholesale store retails a range of fast moving consumer goods and its target audience is small businesses, kirana stores, resellers, and other businesses. Walmart has three other stores in Telangana in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad and also has a Fulfilment Centre in Hyderabad.
The new store also aims to run in a sustainable manner by prioritising waste and water management, using solar power, and working to eliminate single use plastic, said the businesses. Walmart said that the opening should not only create 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the area, it will also boost opportunities and local farmers and regional suppliers.
“We are very excited today as we open our ‘Best Price Modern Wholesale Store’ in the City of Warangal,” said Walmart India’s president and CEO Krish Iyer, according to the brand’s press release. “This is the fourth store we are opening in the state, which reinforces our belief in the ease of doing business here under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao.”
Iyer also said that Telangana is a priority growth region for the business.
