“India’s MSMEs are working hard to prioritise the well-being of those they care about while also navigating the unprecedented business impacts of Covid-19,” said Walmart’s vice president of international partnership services, Nidhi Munjal, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

“Vriddhi Cares is designed to provide easy access to trusted healthcare and business advice so that MSMEs are equipped to help their families, workforce and communities get through this tough time.”

The initiative gives MSMEs access to telephone advice services, health advice, and access to advice and resources for businesses. The free ‘telecare’ services include remote access to doctors and other health are workers for MSME owners, their families, and their employees for daily Covid-19 symptom monitoring, counselling, and information on vaccines and home quarantine guidelines in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil.

Walmart first launched services to aid MSMEs at the start of the pandemic in India last year with the aim of helping them to reach new markets and increase sales. Walmart has faced heavy criticism from Indian traders’ bodies including the Confederation of Indian Industry for harming MSMEs and their business in India which Walmart has consistently denied.
