Walmart India strengthens leadership team with key appointments

Walmart India has strengthened its leadership team with some key appointments post the departure of its chief operating officer, Devendra Chawla.

The company has appointed Sameer Aggarwal as the chief business officer of Walmart India with immediate effect. He will lead strategy, merchandising, cost analytics, e-Commerce, technology, marketing, and replenishment and report directly to Krish Iyer, president and CEO of Walmart India.
 
Walmart India has also brought in Anuj Singh as head of category merchandising and he will lead category merchandising, merchandise planning and execution and private brands development. Singh will report to Sameer Aggarwal.

Commenting on the new appointments, Krish Iyer, president and CEO of Walmart India in a statement said, “I am extremely pleased to announce Sameer Aggarwal as our chief business officer. He brings an international and strategic perspective to our business in India. His experience of supporting the governance functions at Walmart India will help us grow further in the right way.
 
“I am very happy to welcome Anuj Singh into the Walmart India family. Backed with rich experience of 23 years in India and international markets, I am confident he would lead the business to achieve more success."
 
Walmart India has also reiterated that it will continue to invest in the country and expand its store count in the coming years.
