The company managed to achieve the growth despite the closure of its units and stores due to the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Going forward, the company sees huge potential for growth across India, overseas markets and aims to achieve a revenue of Rs 2,300 crore.

Walkaroo has also earmarked an investment of Rs 75 crore to set up a new plant to boost its production in the country.

“Walkaroo will invest in a new plant in Rajasthan this financial year to make printed flip flops and hawai footwear. The plant will have total production capacity of more than one lakh pairs a day and the initial production would be 60,000 pairs a day. “The potential is very high for this segment of footwear,” V Noushad, managing director at Walkaroo told the Hindu.

“At present, it has 12 units across the country. The company expects 20 percent growth in revenue in the current financial year and is exploring the potential to start a unit in Africa. It has a plant in Bangladesh and would expand capacity to there as well,” Noushad added.

Walkaroo is part of Kerala-based VKC Group, one of the largest footwear manufacturers in India. The brand has exclusive outlets and sells through distributors and retailers across the country.
