Virat Kohli's One8 contributes 10 percent to Puma India’s sales
German sportswear brand Puma’s association with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s One8 brand helped the former generate strong sales in the country.
Puma collaborated with Kohli in 2017 to launch the One8 athleisure brand. The brand reported sales of Rs 100 crore ($14.1 million) in the first year since its launch with Puma.
Despite the economic slowdown in India, Puma reported a 23 percent growth in sales at Rs 1,413 crore for the financial year 2019, with Kohli’s One8 contributing 10 percent of the total sales.
"Our collaboration with Kohli's One8 saw an exponential rise in sales in FY19, accounting for almost 10 percent of our total sales. Our partnership with Kohli has been one of the most successful for us globally. Puma One8 continues to grow steadily," Abhishek Ganguly, managing director of Puma India, was quoted as saying by PTI.
Commenting on the strong performance by One8, Kohli in a statement said: "It's been a great partnering with Puma to launch One8. I've had the opportunity to create my own personalised collection in collaboration with Puma and become the first sportsperson to partner with Puma for a product line such as this.”
Puma sees huge potential for growth with its One8 brand in India and planning to further expand it to strengthen its base among the younger consumers in the coming months.
