Virat Kohli launches first One8 and Puma collaborative sneaker
today Oct 18, 2018
“It’s the very first sneaker that I have designed and it is simple, has a bit of cricket and is perfect for any occasion – just the way I love it,” wrote Kohli on his Facebook.
The sneaker's white colourway shows the tennis influence in the collaboration and the gold stitching on both was inspired by the stitching on a cricket ball. The sneakers also feature both brand’s logos.
Kohli inked a deal with Puma in 2017, the same year he launched his own apparel brand one8. This year the two brands have come together for a collaborative sneaker launch. The sneaker takes Puma’s classic Basket sneaker style and fuses it with Kohli’s personal aesthetics. The shoe is available in two colourways, black and white, and is part of one8’s autumn/winter collection.
“This is my first sneaker collaboration ever and I am super excited to be doing it with Puma,” Kohli said in a statement as reported by IndiaRetailing. “I live in my sneakers and wanted us to create a versatile silhouette that would become a wardrobe staple for both men and women. Cricket is a big part of my style so with Puma I have reinvented the Basket with elements of the sport that reflect in the design of the shoe.”
The sneakers retail at Rs 5,999 ($82) and are now available at Puma stores throughout India as well as on the brand’s Indian e-commerce store.
